If you plan to transfer from the University of Montana to another school in the United States, you must apply and be accepted by the new school, then notify International Students and Scholars that you intend to transfer.

Use this form to request a letter of invitation from International Students and Scholars. The letter of invitation is meant to assist friends and family of F-1 and J-1 visa holders in applying for a tourist visa to come to the United States and visit loved ones during their program. 

Use this form to request an extension to your F-1 or J-1 program at UM. 

Extension requests MUST be made 15 business days in advance of the program end date listed on the I-20 or DS-2019. 

A reference for the extension from your academic advisor (students) or supervisor (scholars) will be required as part of this form.

Current financial documentation showing enough funds to pay cost of attendance for the student and any dependents for the requested extension period are required. 

Please complete the form in its entirety to submit your F-1 or J-1 program extension request. 

Please use this form to request a travel endorsement for your I-20 or DS-2019. 

International students holding an F-1 or J-1 student visa are required to take a full-course of study. A full course of study is defined at UM as:

• At least 12 credit hours with at least 9 in person credits for undergraduate students
• At least 9 credit hours with at least 6 in person credits for graduate students

There are various exceptions to the full-course of study requirements. Please complete this form if you plan to take less than the full-course of study requirements.
